On October 8-11, Tybee Island, Georgia, will celebrate its 11th Annual Tybee Pirate Fest. Swashbucklers, wenches, & scallywags of all ages will converge on the island, celebrating the colorful, seafaring history of the Georgia coast. Every Columbus Day weekend, Tybee Island’s South Beach parking lot transforms into a lively pirate village, with live music and fun for the whole family.
This year’s festival will headline accomplished artists Junior Marvin’s Wailers. In 1977, Junior joined Bob Marley and The Wailers. “Exodus,” which was Junior’s first album with the group, was voted “Best Album of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine. Throughout Junior’s career he has played with the likes of Blues Legend T-bone Walker, Ike and Tina Turner, Herbie Goins & The Nighttimers, Blue Ace Unit, and White Rabbit. Since Bob Marley’s passing in 1981, Junior has also put out four CD’s with The Wailers. In addition to Junior & The Wailers, Tybee Island’s Pirate Fest stage will feature the Big Engine, The Brigands and many other local performers.
The festivities will kick off with the coronation of the King and Queen at the Buccaneer Ball located at Tybee’s famous Crab Shack on Thursday, October 8, 2015. Additional highlights include The Pirate Victory Parade, Scallywags Costume Contest, Little Matey’s Cove, Thieves Market, the Bud light Whatever Bar, Fireworks and the addition of several kids’ activities including a petting zoo, Ferris wheel and Carousel.
Organized by the Tybee SEABAR, Inc., the Pirate Fest will showcase the best of Tybee Island, from award-winning restaurants to miles of sandy beaches. We hope you will join us and encourage you and yours to dress the part!

Escape the Ordinary… If only for a Weekend!
Avast, This look’s to be a Great Grand event it does.
We are coming from Europe to vacation that week and staying a block from the wrist band zone. Will visiting family have trouble driving to our rental at 19th? Will we have access to the beach? What do we do if pirates take our private parking? Thanks!!!
Hi Carol, you should be fine at 19th street, though Butler Ave will be shut down Saturday Oct. 10th for the parade from 3-5pm. You may need to tell guest to take Jones Ave to Chatham Ave up to 19th. Tybrisa and Strand Ave will be shut down Friday and Saturday. If you have private parking at your house you shouldn’t have a problem getting people in but street parking could be an issue. If a car does take your spot you should contact the vacation rental company you are using to have it removed.
